Description: Penn Antique Restoration 32"x77" Antique Victorian Entry Door w/Wavy Glass & 5 Panels Gorgeous, antique, exterior door salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern PA. The door is made of solid Douglas Fir or pine, and is painted on both sides. When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. The door has a single window with a large, beautiful, wavy glass lite. There is a ledge under and over the window on the exterior side. There are 5 panels below the glass; all are recessed ( flat). Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware to outfit it (check out our store). * If you would like the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Uneven Size: The door's height and width were unevenly cut by 1/4". The cuts were most likely made to compensate for a settling foundation or an old warped floor. We could cut the door to an even height/width, cut it shorter or narrower, and we could also add wood to it to make it taller or wider to fit your opening--message us for a quote. Condition: The door is strong, sturdy, and in great structural condition. It only has nicks and scratches, but no rot, warp, or any other serious issues. The door does have a crack in the bottom panel (see last photo). Expansion and contraction occurs naturally due to changes in temperature, and the cracks are just a result of this process over the course of many years. It may sound funny, but when the panels expanded and reached their limits within their openings or frames; they were unable to stretch out any further, and ultimately cracked in the center to relieve their stress or tension. Otherwise, most of the blemishes that the door has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks." All of the glass is intact and in great shape with only subtle scratches. Swing: The hinge mortises span the thickness of the door, allowing you to define its swing and install your hinges on either side. Modification: We could also modify the door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could trim or add to the height or width, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
