Like many iconic designs of the era, it was designed by Fujimori for Japan's trendsetting china company, Kato Kogei. Fujimori , born in Japan in 1935, won the National Art Award at just 19. His résumé features many more honors, including the Grand Prix at the Nitten Exhibition (a major Japanese art organization). Eventually named Art Director for Kato Kogei Ceramics, Fujimori is internationally recognized as an exemplar in late century ceramics. The rare, boldly designed set of four salad size ( 8 3/4") plates is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, staining, fading or other condition issues.
