Description: 1969-S 1C Lincoln Cent ICG MS65RD Die Clash Mint Error, Memorial on Obverse Lincoln Reverse. A 1969-S grade MS65RD DDO values at $250,000 PCGS. A double die clash showing Lincoln clashed with the Memorial on the obverse, and the Memorial clashed with Lincoln on the reverse is highly scarce for this key date error coin. Clashed Dies (Ghosting) Clashed dies result after dies are hammered together without a coin blank in place. The softer (usually reverse) die receives a partial impression of the obverse which is transferred to coins struck from that die after the damage. The effect on the coin is sometimes described as ghosting. An exact perfect example: This is an exceptionally strong die clash that is found on a 1969-S Lincoln cent. Part of the peripheral lettering from the reverse can be seen clashed above and to the right of Lincoln’s head on the obverse. Most of the Lincoln Memorial building has been transferred to the obverse from the clash and the full outline of Lincoln’s bust can be seen on the reverse. This coin is part of the collection of J.
