Chicago - A small poisonous brown spider that was detected in the Chicago area last summer appears to be gradually migrating northward, according to Henry Dybas, associate curator of insects at the Field Museum here. The Brown Recluse spider, as seen in this photo, excretes a venom that causes a slow healing wound. Dybas advised persons bitten by spiders to collect them and send them to an entomologist for identification.Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 01-10-1968.
