Photo # 6 shows Youngstown at night, as it was in 1950. Photo # 7shows that it cost $500.00 to move the ROCK onto the campus grounds. Photo # 8 shows the October Freshman Brunch held in Mills Creek Park Chairman of the affair Angelo Nacarado reported good attendance. Mills Creek Park was founded in 1891 due to the untiring efforts of Youngstown Attorney, Volney Rogers. Rogers secured options on much of the land and was able to purchase large tracts of it. This was no small task given that he was compelled to deal with more than 90 landowners. Mills Creek Park encompasses approximately 4400 acres with a variety of bridges, ponds, gardens and waterfalls. Photo # 9 shows a real photo of Mills Creek Park in the Spring. It was pasted into the Yearbook. Photos 10 and 11 show the Home Coming activities in 1949. Nu Sigman Rho Fraternity was the winning float and carried the Homecoming Queen Joyce Webb, during the half time ceremonies. Her predecessor, Peggy Biga presented her with the crown during half time ceremonies. Following the presentation the queen and her Court: Bette Savage, Phyllis, Anne Galose, Betty Jayne DiMenno and Mary Jo Davin were honored in a gala parade. The Homecoming Dance was held at Stambaugh Auditorium. Photo # 12 shows the Armistice Day Activities held on November 11, 1949. Father Arthur DeCrane and Reverend Albert Linder opened the activities. College President Howard Jones reminded the students of their obligation to the war dead. November 12th was officially proclaimed Sadie Hawkins Day. An attendance of over 5,000 alumni, students and friends made the first Open House a success. Photo # 13 shows February activity the Post Exam Hop, led by Angelo Delli Quardi. The library drive began with ths sale of tickets to Yochooey, the school's own variety show. Band Leader, Emmy Williams and his orchestra performed at the Tri Lan Ballroom with the Mardi Gras, Pre-Lenten Newman Club Dance. Queen of the Affair was he lovely Sally McCreey and her Court: Dolores Barko, Ginny Krispinsky, Kathleen Long, Irene Pavlov and Marg Palatis. Photo 14 shows The Month of April and the Junior Senior Prom with Queen Carole Anderson and her Court, Jeanne Lyons, Sally Downie, Mary Alice Joyc and Betty DiMenna. The Crown was awarded by last years Queen, Donna Lewis.
