Taken during Spring Training of that year, the original image shows Ruth wearing a night dress, bonnet and a long, blonde wig with curls. He is holding a baby rattle as well. Beautifully signed in black fountain pen "To My friend Margie Little - From "Babe" Ruth - Feb 18th 1929". All of the writing is in the Home Run King's own hand, with impressions from the fountain pen's tip clearly noticeable on the surface of the photo. The inscription and signature are uniformly strong, rating an 8.5 of 10 in quality. The photograph itself is in Very Good condition with age and handling wear. There is a paper clip rust impression in the background area on the left side, near Ruth's right shoulder. It is not too noticeable with its placement in the window portion, but it is there. There are tack holes in each corner from being proudly shown off many decades ago. The photo also has various lighter thumb impressions; nothing serious. The back is blank, with the exception of the outline of the aforementioned paper clip. It displays very nicely. I have seen this particular image of Ruth only one time before: in the Barry Halper Auction of 1999. The Bambino turned 34 just about the time this photo was taken; he would have another great season in 1929, leading all of baseball in HR's for the TENTH time with 49....he drove in 154 as well for the Yankees.
