Description: 1877-1879 Complete 48 volume set. Edinburgh Adam and Charles Black. This is a complete set, unusually in their original printed burgundy boards, and not rebound. Furthermore, and even more scarce is the publisher's advert for a subscription continuation to their next Scott set! Rare indeed. All books are in good order. Bindings tight. Slight age related yellowing but pages are otherwise clean. Some shelfwear. Volume 17 looks to have been added to this set at some point, as it is an ex-library copy. This book is also in excellent order, but does have the usual library stickers and stamps inside, but only to inside cover, first page and then a couple of university stamps later on. It does not look like it was ever lent out. I imagine this volume was lost from the original set, and replaced later. It is from the same printing run, and dates exactly. A few books have some pencil annotation , easily removed, and all books have slight age related yellowing naturally. A rare opportunity to purchase a complete, first run set, even retaining the publisher's advert! It is clearly a heavy set, hence the postage cost. Will be sent tracked and insured of course.
