Description: 1846 REINEKE FUCHS - REYNARD THE FOX - WOLFGANG VON GOETHE - 36 ENGRAVINGS ILLUSTRATED BY WILHELM VON KAULBACH Dated 1846, a large volume bound in red cloth, decorative boards and a small gilt fox head to front. 36 full plate engravings as called for by the bookbinders illustrated plate at the rear. All tissue guards in place with further small engravings and embellishments. Includes the suppressed engraving of the fox up the monk's habit at page 43. This has been professionally rebacked / rebound, with edge repairs to the endpapers. Some marks and wear to the original boards, corners bumped, some age marks and foxing to pages in places.
